The trip to Ross Lake has quickly turned into a yearly pilgrimage. It's one last chance to squeeze the most out of the short Pacific Northwest summers, and the perfect opportunity to completely unplug. Nestled deep in the North Cascades, it's an epic alpine landscape and the backdrop for Jack Kerouac's popular novel Dharma Bums. I think he said it best when he wrote "One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple." The forecast for the weekend wasn't looking great, but there was no way we weren’t going.
