Trying to describe the American Southwest to someone who has never been can be pretty difficult. It is so otherworldly and filled with landscapes that can't be found anywhere else. I hadn't been through the area since doing a landscape photography trip years ago and was itching to get back. I planted the seed about heading back for some camping and backcountry exploring, and I was stoked to hear a couple of the guys were eager to join in. After some time pondering Google maps, the southeast corner of Canyonlands looked promising. Its winding maze of canyons and bizarre rock formations were sure to provide for good times unplugging and exploring.
