The idea of trusting driverless vehicles is becoming more widely accepted. But what about autonomous transport for kids? Startups, OEMs, and tech giants are ideating and prototyping the future of autonomous vehicles. The idea of driverless transport is no longer a fantasy from a sci-fi film. But what about trusting the technology with some of the most precious cargo? Hannah is the conceptual, autonomous reinvention of the iconic yellow school bus. It's a mass transit solution we have blindly trusted for over a century. Hannah illuminates the operational, financial, and social innovations within an entirely new approach to student transportation in the age of autonomy.

6 students > 50
6 students
Is better than 50.
Hannah only accommodates six students in each vehicle. This is an ideal number for proper supervision, even when it’s remote. The seats are arranged in a circle, as opposed to the traditional front-facing pattern. This layout fosters community between students, instead of inviting chaos. With a smaller size, Hannah forgoes the traditional hub-and-spoke routing system in favor of a point-to-point model picking up every kid directly in front of their home. This allows for traffic manipulation, rerouting to accommodate parent schedules, and most importantly, increased safety for kids who would have had to cross dangerous roads to board.
Ditching the hub and spoke system.

Hannah is clearly efficient during pickup and drop-off times. But what about during the day? As the United States' largest fleet of public transportation vehicles, school buses spend the majority of their lives sitting in parking lots, under utilized. They also cost local governments millions of dollars to own and operate each year. Hannah turns this system on its head by staying in the neighborhoods they serve during the day and cross-functioning as roving Amazon lockers, Starbucks delivery vehicles, charitable donation bins, or even branded airline taxis.
Becoming a roving revenue stream.
